• FANAC.org: A large selection of the popular and important fanzines of the past. 

  • FANMADE Magazine: FANMADE is a digital and print magazine for fan creators and enthusiasts. They believe fan labour is real creative labour – from fanfiction to fanbinding, playlists to meta essays.

  • Fanon Radio: A fan-hosted, fan-run online radio station for transformative media fandom.

  • Fansplaining: Fansplaining is a weekly media outlet devoted to savvy writing about fans and fan culture.

  • MAI: MAI provides a free open-access publication forum for feminist scholars, writers, artists and activists who address visual culture at large. Their authors operate under the assumption that female experiences are never uniform. Just like in everyday life, in art and media multiple other markers of social difference always influence expressions of female, agency, perspective and identity.

  • Transformative Works and Cultures: Transformative Works and Cultures (TWC) is an international, peer-reviewed journal published by the Organization for Transformative Works. TWC publishes articles about transformative works, broadly conceived and articles about the fan community.

  • The Fanfic Symposium: A symposium is a collection of essays on a similar topic (it’s also a party involving feasting and drinking, but we won’t go there). The topic in this case is fan fiction, and the essayists are, well, its contributors. The creator’s role is that of site maintainer. They stress that the site is not meant to be just about fandoms or topics that they are interested in—it is meant to be about fandoms and topics that anyone reading it might be interested in. They do not screen columns except for general topic: they have to be about fan fiction, fandom, or something of interest to fans.

  • The Rec Center: Launched in 2016, The Rec Center is a weekly newsletter about fan culture written and curated by Gavia Baker-Whitelaw and Elizabeth Minkel. Each week they share a selection of fandom-related journalism and creative projects, along with fanfic recommendations and fanart. In 2020, they were finalists for a Hugo Award.
