Mission
Headcanon Magazine is an international & independent publishing project with a fondness for fandoms & folklores. We believe that transformative & derivative works are as creative, legitimate & important as their original source material. Est. 2019.
Our free online literary journal houses poems, mixtapes, interviews, essays, art & stories that explore fan culture, & its various interactions with the larger cultural industry. Our biennial issues are gorgeously-crafted, limited edition keepsakes, devoted to unraveling genres & concepts colouring popular & peripheral discourses. Our live & online gatherings perform canon & its subversions, lores & folklores.
We are devoted to celebrating fan cultures, sharp-eyed & open-mouthed.
Masthead
Anushka Bidani, founder & editor-in-chief
is an Indian writer, editor, & cultural researcher. In 2019, she founded Headcanon Magazine because no publication—existing or extant, local or international, traditional or independent—dedicated itself to reading poems of Steve Rogers mourning Tony Stark. One Direction changed her life. Website: www.anushkabidani.com.
Pulari Meera Baskar, associate editor
firmly believes she was put on this planet with the sole purpose of being a fan-girl. Unfortunately, she has sidetracked herself by pursuing degrees in Anthropology, English, and Political Science. Whatever she is up to right now, she’d rather be watching a movie and proceeding to make it her entire personality (if that’s what she’s doing, then interact with her at your own peril).
