Anushka Bidani: I noticed that your earliest edits revolved around Indian Television (ITV) shows. What inspired you to start watching and editing them?

A๐Ÿ‰. (callaedit): As I was born and raised in India, I have grown up watching ITV shows. So watching them as I grew up, I always wanted to make something from their scenes. And once I learned about editing, I just had to edit all these favourite shows of mine.

AB: Do you have a favourite ITV show? Has that changed from when you were growing up?

A๐Ÿ‰. (callaedit): Yes, I do! It’s called Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai, I remember watching it everyday when it was aired on TV and it’s still one of my favourites (even though I hardly watch any ITV shows now).

AB: You are a beautiful editor. How did you learn editing?

A๐Ÿ‰. (callaedit): Thank you for the compliment. Editing is always better when self-taught, and so I learned all editing by myself. I hardly watched any tutorials. I learned everything by trying out new things myself.

AB: AB: How old were you when you first came to Instagram and editing?

A๐Ÿ‰. (callaedit): I was 15 when I was introduced to Instagram. This was few months before the lockdown; during that period I got into editing, and I remember I started making edits from February 19, 2020.

AB: What kind of shows and scenes do you enjoy editing most?

A๐Ÿ‰. (callaedit): I love editing my favourite shows, and that is why I created this account โ€” to edit every show I love. Scenes / shows which touch my heart, and which I feel have a hidden meaning behind them, I enjoy editing those especially.

AB: What defines a good edit for you? Do you have any favourite creators on Instagram, and beyond?

A๐Ÿ‰. (callaedit): A good edit to me? I mean, everyone has their own way of showing their imagination and creativity. So every edit to me is good as long as the creator made them by themselves and did not use templates. And, to be honest, I have more than one favourite editor here.

AB: I love your The Summer I Turned Pretty (TSITP) edits, and I see they have been quite popular with the masses too. Which is your own personal favourite TSITP edit? Which do you think people like the most?

A๐Ÿ‰. (callaedit): Thank you again for the compliment, and for loving my TSITP edits. My personal favouriteโ€”to be honest, I don’t really have any favourites as such, but one which I really personally loved was on the song “August,” which I made on my birthday.

AB: Your edits (and many other FPs)’ edits went really viral. Do you think this had any impact on the show’s viewership / popularity?

A๐Ÿ‰. (callaedit): I believe so. Because any show which gets aired and then inspires viral edits on Instagram โ€” it definitely makes people want to watch that show. And while TSITP has been a famous show since the start, edits also did play a role there.

AB: Do you think of yourself as a fan page or a personal blog?

A๐Ÿ‰. (callaedit): I personally take myself as a fan page, that’s all.

AB: Would you define yourself as a multi-fandom page, or do you have a particular niche you stick to?

A๐Ÿ‰. (callaedit): It’s a multi-fandom page. Because I like to edit everything I love.

AB: Lastly, why editing? Why not any other art form like, say, blogging or sketching?

A๐Ÿ‰. (callaedit): Thatโ€™s a good question. Editing, because this was one of the first things I discovered when I initially downloaded Instagram. I came across picture edits from fan pages on my feed. And I loved seeing them so much, that I thought of doing it myself too.

I just loved editing. I started as a picture editor, but then completely switched to video edits in few months because I enjoyed video editing more. So editing has now become something which makes me happy. And I love making edits.
